Still, in a 5x5 Roto league I did, he went at #240. Here before such notables as Woody Williams (who I grabbed at 247), Leiter, Davis, etc. It seems like someone always picks this guy like he actually is any good.

That makes sense. Contreras is still getting picked very late. He has shown that he can be good (in 03) and as long as he continues to K, someone will stash him on the bench.

I think he can be great in a head to head league where you can spot start him against weak temas that he usually dominates

Other than Detroit, he dominated no one from what I recall. Someone can check the numbers. And Detroit is no pushover any more.

i think he is a decent gamble in the very late rounds. he will probably stink, but has some potential to help with k's.

I wouldn't take Contreras unless it was the last round. He did poorly on the White Sox last year so I doubt the change in scenery helped any. He lost a lot of life on his fastball between 2003 and 2004. I don't know why, I bet he's a lot older than the 35 yrs old he claims to be. At the end of last season, he pretty much just threw his splitter 80% of the time. It's a nice pitch, but not very effective when it's your only pitch.

Jose has tremendous stuff and the physical attributes to be a dominant pitcher-I don't think anybody can deny this.

THe one thing that even he acknowledges is confidence and preparation for games.

He needs to be fully prepared on his approach to games and have the same attitude if the bases are loaded or there are 0 outs and nobody on.

I think that in most fantasy leagues, especially if u have many roster spots so u can take a risk-Contreras probably has the biggest risk/reward value in fantasy baseball.

He stunk it up and cost my Yanks ball games...simple as that. Total waste of food.
