Justin Morneau ... bad news

Manager Ron Gardenhire said that since last season ended, Justin Morneau had appendicitis, chicken pox and a lung infection that led to pneumonia.
The chicken pox was reported, but the two more serious problems weren't. The Twins wanted to fly Morneau into camp over the weekend, but he was still too sick to travel. It's unclear now whether his problems will have him start the season at less than 100 percent. Feb. 21 - 4:43 am et

Wow, what a sucky offseason.

I imagine that he would not be at 100% at the beginning of the season. It takes awhile to bounce back from those things as it is, let alone them combined. More info on the appedicitis would really make a difference. Beltre's wasn't caught early and really set him back.

I dunno if I'd trade him now, w/ no info other than that he had off season problems, his value is not likely to go down, whereas if he does ok in spring training, you might get a bit more for him...

Very interesting.....I live in Minnesota and never heard about this. I am not too worried (and I am a morneau owner in more than one league) but I will try to keep an eye on it.

It took Adrian Beltre almost a year to recoup from his appendicitis. Of course I think they botched the first operation.
