My desperation for Santana to falter has gone down to this : I don't even care if I win my leagues this year, I would much rather finish 12th and know that Santana busted like no toher player in the history of baseball then win all my leagues with Santana on all my teams.
Will he repeat the 2nd half numbers throughout next year? I have my credit card ($10,000 limit btw) that he won't, but I think mostly anyone would make that bet. Will he be good enough to warrant a top 5 SP once again? I pray every night that that will not come close to happening...
Haha, hey Zig, you mean falter like your boy Barry, who isn't even a shell of his former self? I'm guessing Santana cost you a title last year? I think Mr. Zito has to get off of allysa milano (sp?), and get back on the guitar.

Not much to say that hasn't been said already. Santana is a stud. Maybe not the Priest of baseball, but pretty sick anyway. Can he repeat last year's success. Probably not. But a minor regression is all I would see. However, anybody that passes on him is a little silly (discounting the top 5 of a draft). If you can get him at a 9 or 10 per se, and you pass because you don't wanna get duped or caught up in the hype, then that's just not smart managing. At the very worst, take him high and, if you don't believe in him, pawn him off as a Cy Young winner (I'm sure some people would bend over backwards to get the #4 Yahoo ranked player ).
Can't worry about tomorrow's pain tonight.

Zig, it's over, Santana did well last year. EXTREMELY well. You said he wouldn't but he did.
We all make bad predictions. No one of their right mind faults you for making a couple of bad predictions. If Santana falters this year, how would that make your prediction for last year right? I know he's not your favorite player, but at least be able to appreciate his skill and his outstanding Cy Young season.

It has nothing to do with my last years prediction, I never liked the guy and I never will. If I could have a top 5 list of guys I'd want to fail miserably he'd be #1, pedro would be #2 and maybe some other guys, but yeah, Santana's bitterness was never about my wrong prediction, I hated the guy before the start of last season...
Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!
Since you bring it up, can I ask why? Are you a relative of the Astros' GM that left him unprotected from the Rule V draft? Or of the Marlins' GM that traded him for Jared Camp?

Why, what's there to hate about him?
Did you make your prediction about him failing last year because you hated him? That's pretty weak.

it might it wise to consider the steroid fiasco when discussing this point. i dont think anyone would agrue that of the number of steroid users in MLB, the vast majority are hitters as opposed to pitchers. maybe hitting stats will decline on the whole, with some steroid users becoming scared of being caught? its also almost impossible to tell which players were using and, in turn, which might see a sharp decline in stats this year if they stop (a la giambi last year?) With this in mind, might it be smart to inch santana up your draft list?

This has to be the biggest "If" statement I've ever seen in my life.
