What's with this??

I'm looking at these SP rankings on this board and guys like Joel Piniero, Jeremy Bonderman, Kelvium Escobar, CC Sabathia and Vicente Padilla are getting alot of love.

None of these guys had spectacular years, some were flat-out horrible. Why are these guys ranked so high? Is it just because they are young and have talent, or are they due for something?

Actually, I like all of these guys except for Padilla.

Escobar - excellent source of Ks. decent ERA, WHIP, second year as a starter should be better, especially with Angels lineup.

Bonderman - young; had a very good 2nd half in'04, many experts predicting him for THE breakout candidate.

Pineiro - has already done it! 2002 was a really strong year; injuries, gopher ball have held him back

Sabathia, despite relative mediocrity is still only 24; has had strong first halves the last 2 years, poor 2nd half; is supposed to be in better shape this year and has lost weight; this could be his year.

Padilla - a trip to the DL just waiting to happen; a real headcase in a terrible pitcher's park

Well, these guys aren't that high on lists, but rather many of the sleeper pitchers that people are targeting. Obviously, many cafe members turn sleepers into full fledge stars. As rlee stated, many of these guys are going to have good seasons. Escobar had a good season last year, so I don't know why you're asking about him. He didn't get wins, but the guy can K em w/ the best of him. I am not that high on Bonderman, he is talented, but let someone else take him too high. Sabathia is a monster to start the season, so take him and let him get you out to an early lead. Piniero is definitely on my gaydar this year, talented pitcher w/ better bats and a big park behind him. Padilla, fugetabotim. He's as inconsistent as it gets.

I'm too high on any of these guys besides Bonderman. He's young, and should only get better. He struck out I believe 166 guys last year in his first full season.
