1st Rounder???

Postby Trot Nixon » Sat Feb 19, 2005 6:22 pm

I'm in a 14 team, 5x5 keeper league in which we keep 7 players. The draft is fast approaching and I'm looking to get a head start on my preparations. I got 6 pick in the up-coming draft, who do you guys think I should take? My team looks like this so far...

C-
1B-Sexson
2B-
SS-
3B-Huff
O-Maggs
O-Patterson
O-
U-
U-
P-Schmidt
P-Sheets
P-Halladay
P-
P-
P-

I obviously need more hitting and a closer or 2 but here are the possible 1st rounders

Loretta (leaning more towards him, even though he's 33 he helps in AVG and at a horrible position)
Casey
C Guillen (pretty sure he'll be gone)
Drew
Glaus
Sosa
Posada
Burnett (I wish I didn't have 3 pitchers already)
Kolb

Any help is awesome, thanks in advance! ;-D

I'd rank them:
Burnett- Doesn't matter if you already have 3 SP, he is clearly the best available.

Carlos Guillen- All the other good SS have probably been kept, clearly the cream of the crop available at his position.

Loretta- Like you said, good all-around player at a pretty scarce position.

Drew- The ultimate risk/reward fantasy player ... I think he is worth a pick over any of the guys below.

Posada- You know what you're getting in Jorge ... a guy that doesn't miss many games and is part of an All-Star lineup. Also the 4th best catcher in the MLB, can't go wrong.

Kolb- An All-Star last season and a definite top 15 closer this season. Could use a closer too since you have don't have one.

Sosa- Could be over Posada, but I'm just not a fan of his. Strikeouts way too much for my taste, plus you already have Maggs and C-Patt.

Casey- You already have a 1B with Sexson, shouldn't waste your 8th round pick on a utility player.

Glaus- Not a fan of his .... crappy BA plus you already have Huff.

I'd go with Loretta... Sure, he's old, but he put up silly numbers last year.

Id either take Lorretta or take Burnette and maybe trade a pitcher later to fill another hole with something better than what your lookin at for options here.
