Ever tried not drafting a catcher?

Postby LumberJack5 » Sat Feb 19, 2005 2:41 am

Im in a 12 team league and every team has a C but me and I really dont think anyone is going to draft 2. There are 5 rounds left in the draft and I am thinking about not drafting a C. Barrett, Pierzynski, Lieberthal, Buck, and Closser are all left. Im thinking about just waiting out Spring Training and then picking up the one I like the most at that point. Would this be unwise?

I would watch the next five rounds and if there is another run, you never know, pick one up.
I would take one in the last round.
You can always drop who you pick up and pick up the hot catcher.

I just can't see myself not having every position filled.

Some might agree, but not me.

I'd pick one up now. You can always change later. Just grab one in the last round.

My apologies. I have a nephew named Anfernee, and I know how mad he gets when I call him Anthony. Almost as mad as I get when I think about the fact that my sister named him Anfernee.

Why not? Just play it safe and select whoever the last one available out of Lieberthal, Pierzynski, and Barrett at the latest time possible.

Take one in the last round. You can always change to another catching after the spring results are in.

I see a bounce back year for Lieberthal. Last yr's low avg with runners on base was a fluke. I have him ranked quite high for this year.

Hope 2 of 'em are gone by the last round but if not, go with Lieberthal.

Several reasons, but the main one is because hes not breaking any records.

Anyways, go with Pierzynski. ;-D
