Pierre at 2.08 - too early?

Postby Mercer Boy » Fri Feb 18, 2005 11:16 am

Yeah, I know I'll get spied on by the others in this league ( :-) ), but I have no idea what to think. The top 7 OF's are all gone, so I may have to get one before an even bigger dropoff begins. H2H league with Roto scoring.

Pierre would be like a mini-Ichiro (the guy I wanted and missed by 2) for me, but immediately losing out in two categories would probably stink...plus it is only the second round.

I could take Cabrera...he's got a bunch of good hitters in front and behind him and could still get much better. But after reading another thread, it seems that this is too high for him as well. :-o

Or, I could go with a pitcher like Schilling or Pedro...but I think I want to stick with the "hitting is better" philosophy.

Still plenty of 3B's left...so I think I might wait, even though Rolen is still around (would he be good value here)?

I'm at a loss at this point because I have no idea what positions are better than others. Any opinions are appreciated. Baseball drafting is hard! :-S

I'd take Cabrera over Pierre that early...since he can give you HR, RBI and R, over R and SB.

But one question - what format? Roto or H2H ?

I'm a big believer that hitting is better to get at the beginning of your draft, but I think I'd take Pedro in your shoes. He's the best available. Rolen could be a good choice, but 3b is deep enough and last year has the smell of career year that I'd grab Pedro.

Go with the best player available depending on your scoring categories.

I would take another hitter, then pick up an ace next round (Schilling & Pedro may not be around, but someone like Oswalt, Peavy or Perez should be).

Of those you mention, I don't think it's too early for Pierre, Cabrera or Rolen. Draft whichever you think will do best for your team.

It's weekly H2H with the 5 normal batting and pitching categories.

I know I need the best available, but I have no idea who that is. :-B I already have Tejada so I don't need a SS, and he gets a ton of RBI, so I probably don't need that either.

I'd take Cabrera over Pierre and Rolen. Can you tell us who's been drafted so far?

:-)

Like I said, most of the top OF's are gone...few 3B's are gone, and a decent amount of SP's are left.

Go get Cabrera, you may be able to get Pierre later.

Agreed that the 2nd (or 3rd and probably 4th) is too early for Pierre.
