I go for Hoffman.
I have to just wonder if teams weren't "gamed up" enough when they played Milwaukee the last couple years. Very easy to go in there and underestimate. Most teams go in to ATL serious attittude I believe. I think his luck may catch up w him this year and it will be very easy for ATL to go back to Smoltz if he doesn't work out as a SP.
Here's a little rundown on a Braves Blog site--

Hoffman and its not even close.
Yes hoffman getting older and he is old. But Kolb's k rate is alarming and he was only decent in the 2nd half last season while hoffman was an ace closer all year.
go wit the hells bells

Have to go with Hoffman. I think Kolb has a chance to lose the job by midseason.

I'm with Mookie.
Kolb's 2004 ERA by Month
April - 1.00
May - 1.69
June - 0.00
July - 3.68
August - 5.25
September - 6.75
In addition to his escalating monthly ERAs last season, Kolb saw his K/BB drop from 2.05 in 2003 to 1.40 in 2004, while his ground ball to fly ball ratio decreased from 2.58 to 2.20.
Would you pencil in Carlos Silva for 30+ saves if he were given the closers role in Atlanta? Hoffman all the way.
