I dont like the pick too much. With Scholling and Mussina you already have enough in the department to draft later average pitchers that are diamonds in the rough. Buehrle has been terribly overworked last 3 years and I am looking for a downfall this year.

Finally, another Buehrle realist. I don't understand how he got this good reputation. Just because he stayed healthy for a few years and posted mediocre numbers I guess. If you're looking for a 4th starter, he's your man. If you're looking for a 3rd starter, like you were, you would have been better off going with someone with higher upside.

The pick won't kill your team by any means though, at least you know what you're going to get from him. Now your mission should be to steal your "real" 3rd starter later in the draft. Focus on guys with big upsides like Bonderman or Sabathia. Good luck!

And yeah, that's one seriously potent offense. Great draft so far.

He's been very good the past 4 years. Wait and see, my friend. And the kicker is you suggest Bonderman to be his "true" #3 when he's going to be significantly worse than Buehrle, even on an off year like 2004. Sabathia is OK, but he's no Buehrle. He's a 4.00 ERA guy.

Buehrle is undervalued by virtually everyone here.

He has a 69-45 career record with a 3.76 ERA...a 1.24 career WHIP isn't mind-blowing, but it is still pretty decent.

Let me just say his road splits rivaled any pitcher in the league - look it up.

If you can take him and play him on the road exclusively he's money.

I'd have personally taken Radke or Piniero there instead, but that doesn't make it a bad pick. They're not that far apart.
