Soriano or Tejada.....I would lean towards Soriano....and target Nomar, in round 2 or a guy like Greene or Berroa in later rounds for the other weak position.

Eighteen teams???

:-o

I would grab a starting pitcher and then draft the two best hitters regardless of position when the draft snakes back around.

Eighteen teams??

Well...the unexpected happened. Can you believe that Beltran dropped to me with the 5th pick. I obviously took him. I'll just have to try and make due with best available when it comes back to me in 26 picks. Here is the order so far:

1- A-Rod
2- Pujols
3- Soriano
4- Vlad
5- Beltran

Maybe the gods are smiling on me. We will see. Thanks for all the responses. ;-D

Tejada seems to be the best Choice.

My one concern re Tejada is that if he's batting in front of Sosa, he's not going to see much in the way of pitches. Sammy likes hitting #3 but will they let him hog it if the AL East can sucker him for low and away stuff like most of the rest of baseball? The yahoo projected lineup has Palmeiro batting cleanup which might be better for Tejada but I'd almost expect Sammy to sort of start hot and perhaps move into the #4 slot and have some impact on Tejada seeing a lot of pitches.
