Need advice with my 2nd round selections.........

Postby caseyboy » Tue Feb 15, 2005 7:10 pm

I am in a keeper league where we kept 6 players (5x5 league). I kept Schilling, Hudson, Abreu, Crawford, Helton, and Magglio Ordonez.

I am going to take Miguel Cabrera with my first round selection. My problem is....I own two 2nd round picks. The 3rd pick and 5th pick in the 2nd round. Based upon who I kept and with taking Cabrera in round 1....I can pick from the following players who MAY be available in round 2....

Eric Chavez or Troy Glaus to play 3B
Jimmy Rollins or Edgar Renteria to play SS
Josh Beckett or Barry Zito SP
Closers....Francisco Rodriguez, Trevor Hoffman, Dan Kolb ???

I own two selections....which two players should I select to fill the holes on my team? I am leaning towards Chavez and Francisco Rodriguez so I have a Stud Closer and a Solid 3B. Chavez scares me because he has no help or protection in that A's lineup. Should I go Beckett and a closer? HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Assuming all those players are there at your pick (big assumption!)...

You don't need Beckett with Schilling & Hudson already.

I'd go Chavez & KRod or Rollins & KRod (if Chavez has gone) followed by

These would be my choices in no particular order:

Chavez over Glaus
Rollins over Renteria
Zito over Beckett
Krod over Hoffman/Kolb
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
