i live in houston, and burke isnt penciled in as anything but a possibility. the astros have no clue yet what theyre doing in the OF or 2. but my bet goes with burke gettting the start at 2 at least until berkman comes back.
and i heard that polanco isnt going to be starting, but that seems to change every day. who knows about either of these players. for anyone who hasnt drafted yet, i suggest getting someone that youre SURE is going to have starting job. nothing annoys me more than having a plattoon player on my team.
Everything I've read is that Utley will be their 2B for this year and beyond unless he absolutely chokes.
They offered Polanco arbitration hoping he would turn them down and seek FA so that they would then be comped by his signing team, but he surprised them and accepted. Not a favorite w management. Of course a new manager may change that. Who knows?
One of the painful lessons I've learned playing fantasy baseball is to never, ever, never rely on a rookie 2B. They are fine as backups, but do not put yourself in a position where failure on the rookie's part is going to put you too much out of sorts.

I'd rank them
Matsui Utley Burke
Who was the 2B that burned you? Reyes?
I agree with this wholeheartedly. The best strategy to employ is to take the scarce positions seriously. Get guys you know will produce. Not necessarily super star level but above average. Other positions are MUCH easier to replace.

Chone Figgins is gone already? I would take him. If he's gone, I am betting that you can get Utley in the 15th-17th round range. Burke should be there in the 20's still. I think that both Utley and Burke will do well. Depending on what you need. Burke will steal more and score more runs leading off. Utley can bang you the home runs and rbi's that Burke has. I say take them both and play either the hot hand, or for the category that you may need (stolen base or home run).
