How would you approach this league?

Postby colt4523 » Mon Feb 14, 2005 5:12 pm

I am joining a new league which heavily favors pitchers. Last year only 3 hitters were taken in the first 16 picks (Matt Morris was drafted in the first last year). I suggested changing the scoring system but since I am new, no one agrees with me. So, should I go against the grain and draft a hitter and risk getting a mediocre pitcher. How would you guys draft? I have made my top 16 pitchers list and I am not too confident past the first 7 or 8 to anchor my staff.

It would really depend on the stats you use. Can you post those to give us a better idea just how much the league favors pitchers?

Its a h2h points league. The point totals end up with pitchers having about 200 more points then the next closest hitter. I do not have the exact point values for our stats since my commish needs to send me an invite. Basically pitchers generate a lot more points then hitters.

Seeing the point system would help, so post it once you get a copy of it.

The fact that pitchers generate a lot more points than hitters doesn't tell us much. If those points are coming from something like IP and are spread out evenly, pitchers aren't necessarily that much more valuable than bats. The key is how much they outscore their peers at the same position

Now if the pitchers points are coming heavily from Ks, you need to get your hands on a Santana, Schmidt, Unit, Sheets, etc. or you're gonna be in trouble.
