Where to take VMart?

Postby AcidRock23 » Mon Feb 14, 2005 1:58 pm

I am drafting 9th in a 12 team and am thinking of Beltré or Soriano first and then the best OF still out w/ the second pick coming back but keep thinking of VMart lurking there for the 3rd pick going back down and still on the board. Is that too early for him?

I wouldn't draft him then, but if you really want him then you'll probably have to take him there or 4th going back up.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. -Crash Davis

AcidRock - there is really very little value in drafting an elite C early. I would pass on him and take a vtek/kendall/Mauer/RHernandez 6-10 rounds later. ;-D

Don't draft him that early. Don't be that guy. You can get very similar stats at catcher a dozen rounds later - use that pick on a guy who will put up better numbers overall. Go for the Best overall player.

All right, I had some delusional moments as I've been trying to squeeze all players into A/B/C/D and had Martinez as an A catcher. I've read all the stuff to avoid that sort of delusional math, as his #s wouldn't even rate a C OF the way things are shaping up but, at #9, the creme de la creme may be munched by the time I pick and I saw him lurking on the list and figured 'well, maybe he'll do BETTER this year, since he's older, more experienced'. He'd have to get quite a bit better to warrant the 3rd round, no matter how crazy the first couple of rounds are. Thanks for the slap upside of my head...heh heh heh...

I'll keep my radar locked on Ramon Hernandez and hope for the best w/ that notion. VMart can munch on someone else. A person in our league last year got smacked picking Javy in the first round so I should know better but well, you know, he's...a PLAYER I LIKE!!! 8-o 8-o 8-o
