Sadly, the UN is virtually powerless today, and it has itself to blame for that.
Sorry, I won't get political here... just sad at the lack of help for the victims.
The lack of help I agree is disgusting.
Sorry to contradict and I hope I dont get too political either but..............
The U.S. has had more UN infractions than any other country I believe. Most notable in recent history the war in Iraq.
Not trying to start a political debate at all. Just pointing out a glareing case of America going against the UN in recent history.

Yes, let's abolish the UN. Wait... why?
How did this turn into an attack on the UN anyways? I thought it was about the corrupt officals of Sri Lanka. Oh... Cornbread had to get his two cents in.

Enough with the thread hijacking...
If you haven't donated to the victims of the tsunami because you are afraid that your money will be wasted please read this,
“The Sri Lankan government worked at amazing speed clearing relief items through customs,” said Parry. “Instead of sitting in the airport warehouses, as is their custom, supplies were often loaded directly onto trucks bound for distribution warehouses.”

That's from the red cross' website. If you don't trust the american red cross to handle your donations properly, then that's just a shame.
Donate here.
