This rumor comes from a combination of Schilling’s trash talking (it was his direct response to the RJ signing) and media driven overhype – the same BS that lead to spring training game tix being scalped for 1000 bucks last spring.
ESPN really really really wants you to tune in, even though opening day is probably the least significant game that those two will face each other in over the next couple of years.

Schilling's rehab is ahead of schedule so this overhyped duel could take place. A month ago there appeared to be zero chance it would happen but now it is probably 40/60 we'll see these two hall of famers go at it for a few innings.

And how, pray tell, do you know this via anyone other than Schilling or the RS front office or the network broadcasting the game?
Personally I do hope he comes out too soon and re-injures his ankle trying to cash a check he wrote with his mouth – in an away game in April no less. LOL
