In a way, I'm kinda impressed that this crew stumped the spreadsheet master.

In a way I'm impressed too. I didn't know there were that many ways to spell Pettitte. :-D

See, sometimes I have good ideas :-D

As long as everyone does the same thing it doesn't matter all that much. Of course the best way would probably be to just set-up a quick web page that would allow whomever takes part next year to set their rankings for each position (along the lines of a yahoo predraft ranking). Let a database do all the work. :-°

Here they come. Time breakdown, just to underscore the value of the template:

Debugging (spelling, standardizing first and last names, syntax and spacing, etc) = 3 hrs

Sorting and arranging data = 20 minutes

Making tables = 20 minutes

I went ahead and ran max and min scores for each player, as well as calculating how many "ballots" each appeared on.

Some interesting results of note:
The most unsual player was Jose Guillen, who appeared on all 20 ballots, but with a mean score of only 15.

23 players appeared on all 20 ballots (clearly showing a lot of consensus).

12 different players appeared on only 1 ballot.
