I have Ray Durham, Corey Patterson, and Adam Dunn on the bench. I realize Matheny is a little weak, but I didn't get a top 3 catcher in the draft, so my strategy is to pick up the hottest catcher off the wire.

For pitching, huge points are given for shutouts and complete games

I think you're in decent shape, at least if Giambi gets back on track. Another masher wouldn't hurt - Martinez probably isn't a long-term solution at utility in a ten-team league. You might want to target an underachieving slugger to trade for. Your starting pitching is very solid (can't complain when your guy throws a no-hitter ); hopefully, your bullpen will be decent with your scoring, but an upgrade there might be something to consider as well.

Thanks for the advice. I packaged Patterson and Loaiza for Brian Giles, who should be back this weekend. Not a bad pickup in exchange for a one month wonder and a guy sitting on my bench.
So now that I've got Giles in the outfield, is there anything else I could/should do?

Well, there are always things you could do, such as ahopping Durham just to see what sort of offers might come your way. Keeping an eye open for ways to upgrade Tino Martinez if necessary might also be a decent idea, but on the whole, this team looks good.

How are you doing in the standings so far?

Tino wont last long. Hes bound to slump, but I think Durham, Dunn, and Paterson could work at Util. Parrerson could do fine, but the others are better

I am currently 4th out of 10, but I've been fluctuating between 2nd and 5th for a while, the standings are pretty tight right now. The guy in first has some guys playing over their head and should come back down to the pack. Also, I feel that when (if?) Giambi starts hitting like he can, and Giles comes back, I should stay around the top.
I've been thinking about how to trade Durham, but I don't think I could get anything decent for him right now. There are only 3 teams with a dire second basemen need, but they don't have anything equal for Durham- their players are either much lower in value, or much higher. The only deal I've thought about at all is proposing Durham for Hinske. I'm a little reluctant to mess with the lineup too much.
About Tino, I've replaced him with Dunn, who more than makes up for the difference in BA with hrs and rbis. Either way, Giles' activation will bump Tino/Dunn off.
I'd like to upgrade SS, but no one in the league is willing to budge with Nomar/Jeter/Tejada/Arod. I've picked up Hernandez, but he strikes out so much (-1 points) and I already have to deal with Dunn.
I may just sit tight for now, with the exception of shopping Durham around.

By the way, after I pulled the Patterson/Loaiza for Giles trade, I picked up Lilly to replace Loaiza.
