Did I shoot myself in the foot?

Postby Flockers » Mon Feb 07, 2005 6:50 pm

I am currently drafting a keeper team with some people here at the FBC. I had the eighth overall pick in the draft out of twelve.

The draft went like this:

1. Albert Pujols
2. Carlos Beltran
3. Vladimir Guerrero
4. Alex Rodriguez
5. Miguel tejada
6. Alfonso Soriano
7. Johan Santana

...

Then it was my pick. I had the choices of players like Helton, Ramirez or the Unit.

I picked Mark Teixiera. I thought it was a good pick, considering it was a keeper league.

But now after hearing what some of the people in my league said, I'm regretting this pick.

Any comments would be appreciated.

i like tex alot i think maybe you took him a little to early maybe should have waited till your pick came back to you, but still its a good pick he will be a great player for years to come and wil keep puttin up great numbers,

tex was the 21st pick in my draft but then again marcus giles went before him and ichiro and crawford!! i would take tex b4 any of these guys,

Don't forget about Abreu! I think why that pick isn't so hot is because you probably could have gotten him in the 2nd round.

From what I heard, he wasn't going to be there when my second round pick came around. I didn't want to take a guy that had only a few years left in him, so I took a stud that I felt could anchor my team for years.

Just a little insight on why I made that pick.

It's not a bad pick by any means....Although I wouldn't have taken him over Manny or Helton, it's still a solid pick. Next year, we could all be calling you a genus because of the way Tex hit 50 homers this year. Anything can happen in that ball park.

btw, I was the lucky one to get Pujols in that league. :-b

There is no excuse to take Teixeria that early. He is a third round pick.

In a keeper league, he is a first or second round pick to me.

I agree that Teixeira is a 2nd round pick in a keeper but not a 1st. One thing I find alot of people doing in keeper leagues are taking people to early because of age. Remember you arent playing this year to only get better for the future. You should be playing this year to win.
