Yep, to each his own. Its not like the Cubs haven't had their fair share of awful moves

I am on the side of a good signing for the tigs. If he gets hurt, it looks like they will be able to void his contract. Good for the tigers to finally realize they might have to pay a little more to get some talent and also for making some plays at some of the big free agents this year (unlike many teams).

Judging by the brawl at the Palace of Auburn Hills involving Jermaine O'neal on the court, overweight Mexicans.

Wow, I can't believe that signing. What are the Tigers thinking?
Sure, if he gets injured again, they have an out, but what if he just lost a lot of his production? He's also 31 and probably would be declining naturally.

Gotta like this signing. It carries a bit more risk than your usual signing, but also could yield so much benefit. And 31 is NOT too old. Towards the end of the contract, yeah he'd be getting up there, but he'll still go another good 3-4 years probably and as long as he has his health could still be very good beyond that. Instead of being pessimistic and asking "what if he declines?', you've got to ask, what if he's healthy and puts up numbers anywhere near pre-2004? And what would his impact be on the lineup beyond just his own numbers? This signing is relatively reminiscent of the Pudge signing last year when they were bashed for overpaying a player who was "nearing the end". You can't always play it safe on your attempts to succeed.
If the Tigers' pitching comes through this year, it will be a very close race in the AL Central between 3 or 4 teams. Now if only the Tigers can do something about their bad minor league system...
