My top 20 SP rankings

I have been working on my SP rankings. I started them in November and havent looked at them in Decmeber and January.
Ive updated it slightly in the past few days. I plan on Ranking the top 100 (if I get a chance)

What do you think of my Rankings so far?

Not too much argument with the first two although personally I see Randy as a clear No. 1. I wouldn't have Schmidt as high as No. 3 or Hudson as high as 7. Pedro is far too low at 9. I've got him at No. 4 behind RJ, Prior and Santana.

Asides from the order (especially Top 10) overall you've pretty much got the same 20 as me. The only exceptions are that I've got Colon and Vazquez in there ahead of Harden and Mussina.

imo, Johsnon is 3rd, Pedro is a bit high imo, not a big fan of his and finally i think Clemens should be behind Wood and AJ

i actually like your list a lot NY, it is very similar to mine except i would move halladay down and switch sheets with hudson

Not bad but you seem to have a tendency to overrate some players just based on the reputation of their stuff alone. I'm mainly talking about some of the younger players like Perez, Burnett, and Harden who have shown flashes of brilliance. No doubt these guys have some serious upside but I would never take someone like Oliver Perez over Clemens or Mulder. Nor would I even include Burnett or Harden in the top 20. In fact, I would pick Zito, Pavano, Colon, Buerhle, Ortiz, and Morris before I even touch the often injured Burnett. Not to mention Zito still has the best stuff in Oakland in my mind and would rank higher than Harden any day.

Another thing to be careful of is Schmidt and Prior. If they get 32-34 solid starts, than they most likely will post better numbers than Schilling. But that's a shaky "if" considering neither pitcher has shown they can string together two back to back seasons with over 30 starts within the past five years. Schilling on the other hand is a rock and might get better after getting one year of experience in the AL. But its really a toss up between these three. What does everyone else think about this?

Solid list. I would move the Rocket into top 10 and move Hudson out. I am concerned about possible workload issues with Huddy. Everyone doubted Clemens in 04 and they are doubting him again this season. Don't be the doubter. Until I see him down and out, I can't count him out. He'll get 'em out on guts alone.

For some reason I am really high on Hudson this year. I just think that the combination of switching to the NL + Leo Mazole = great year and a run at the NL Cy young.

I value ERA and WHIP above win potetial. (I play in a roto league)

Looking back at my rankings- Im not so sure about Ollie at #12. I might have to edit that.

IMO, Colon, Morris, Ortiz are ERA killers. And those are guys on my avoid list.


Obviously everyone has there own personal opinions, but it is great to be able to post in a forum and get great advice from others

why does no one think that roger clemens is going to be good this year? boggles the mind. in my opinion rocket has to be in the top 10 at the least. i know that prior has good stuff, but i take it from the stance, "what have you done for me lately", and i think that rj should be #1.
