Vernon Wells vs Corey Patterson vs Magglio Ordonez

Postby cordscords on Sat Feb 05, 2005 1:36 pm

I know Wells and Patterson have both have lost lineup protection (Wells w/ Delgado and Patterson w/ Sosa and Alou) and Maggs is an injury ? and could be going to det (ugh) and I'm having trouble predicting who will have the better year. I know Maggs is capable of putting up the best #'s, Patterson has the most upside, and Wells is the middle man. I would appreciate some help.

I'd go with Vernon Wells, he had those nagging injuries last year and if he's over that he could bounce back big regardless of the lineup

I would go with maggs. Even if he goes to the tigers. The tigers had a pretty decent hitting ball club last year.

why the "ugh" for DET? it's been about what? two years now that they moved the fences and made it much easier for hitters at comerica? they scored 827 runs last year. i'd say that's pretty good.

wells is on of my favourite players, but i think i'm gonna go with maggs here.

Though Maggs HR power may go down as a result of Comerica Nationa Park, he is surrounded by a good hitting ball club and should drive in a bunch of runs while slapping the ball around enough to hit >.300.

I don't trust Vern to stay healthy and Patterson was inconsistant when he had help. I doubt losing Sosa and Alou is going to help.

Maggs is an injury risk and he is leaving the best hitter's park in the AL. Particularly due to the injury risk I would take Wells over him without thinking too hard. It is never a good sign whe a guy signs a contract where dollars will be voided by games missed and he would not even workout for other teams.

Patterson is no where near the hitter than Wells is. There is really no case for taking him over Wells unless you are absolutely desperate for SBs.
