... which didn't make the brackets of Mook's recent great contest... but was a really cool band with some great albums -- is the J. Geils Band.
You might remember them best for their biggest commercial hits "Freeze Frame" and "Centerfold" but they had a long string of hits (with lesser chart success) thoughout the late 70s and early 80s.
Definitly a band worth checking out.
Just FYI.

I don't remember Jethro Tull being in there...but they are one of my favorites...
Aqualung was one of the best albums ever...
J. Giels was a good band as well....

Hard G sound, not like Giles (soft G). Man, if you've never heard of them, search them up on KaZaA or something, some great songs:

Jethro Tull never did it for me. Flute players just don't rock.

I totally realize that Tull has many many fans who obviously disagree with me. Just never my thing, and I really never "got" the whole Ian Anderson/rock-flute thing.
Just expressing my opinion. Geils, who this thread was STARTED for, is a verrrry different band than Tull -- much more R&B based, party-time rock&roll.
That's what's great about music, we all have our favorites.

.......goes over and puts on Jethro Tull "Original Masters" disk.
Whenever there is talk of or a vote on rock bands, it seems to motivate me to break them out.
