Robin Yount Rookie Card

Hey this might be off the beaten path, but I saw a Robin Yount "Rookie Card" available in an antique store. They wanted $39, but the owner quickly offerd it for $30. I'm not sure which brand, but it was a common one from 1977. On the back, it showed stats for two partial seasons in which his combined BA was .250.
Is this a real rookie card? The outer protective plastic labled it as a rookie card.
Also, anyone know what the real market value would be? It appeared to be in very good condition.

Unless my memory completely fails me, Yount's '75 card was his rookie, not his '77.

The '77 card is probably a good one to own, but certainly don't overpay since it's not a rookie card.

Thanks for the tips. I'm glad my normal impulsive behavior was tempered before checking the facts. It is still a nice card. Any idea what I should offer for it?

I'm probably the wrong guy to ask about what to offer since I don't keep track of prices much and tend to (foolishly, probably) lean toward the "whatever it's worth to you" school of collecting, but I belive that a couple years ago, at least, this was still a $5-ish card. That may have changed, and I'd certainly check a price guide, but $30 seems like a lot to me.

Frankly, I wouldn't purchase the card from the store. Any store owner knowingly displaying a card deceivingly and at 10 to 12 times its value is one store I would not give a nickel to. You'll come across this card at most any store or card show.
