Emmitt Smith by far the most overrated runningback in the history of the NFL? Talk about a ridiculous, unsubstantiated, and uneducated statement. I guess it was all holes on all 4409 carries right? And I won't even touch the Jim Brown comment. Anyway here are my greatest runningbacks:
1. Jim Brown
2. Walter Payton
3. Gale Sayers
4. Emmitt Smith
5. Barry Sanders

That is how I would go as well...
I don't think Emmitt was overrated in the least....I think if anything he showed what a man with heart, desire and talent can accomplish...
Useless Trivia of the day
England's Worcester Canoe Club set the world record for paddling a hand-propelled bathtub. The 25 man team covered a distance of 55 miles, 425 yards in 24 hours on September 28 and 29, 1979.

This is my reasoning too. I didnt really like Emmitt, but you have to respect him. I rate Emmitt ahead of Barry becasue Emmitt didnt quit.
anyone who rushes for 18 thousand yards deserves some respect. His greatness is not getting hurt, he was probably the toughest guy on this list. But I dont really care about that. The other guys were just awesome runners. Emmitt was not an awesome runner. Think of it this way...imagine if Denver had kept the same running back during this whole run of 1000 yard rushers. They all look good until they go somewhere else, but if one guy had stayed on that team the whole time (portis, TD, ruben droughns?!) they would be up there with Emmitt.
I think Emmitt Smith is by far the most overrated runningback in the history of the NFL. He ran behind the best line of probably all time. All he had to do was pick a hole and run through it. I think he was exposed in his later years with Dallas and the Cardinals. Sure people say he is old, but I think it is more then that.
