i do agree that you need to target pitching but i would take hernandez and take a chance on escobar, if you dont want to take the chance go with colon

I was thinking if I went with pitcjing, I would go Pavano and Maddux or Livan Hernandez. I can't see how Fatolo wold be a better option. And Guardado is one toss away from an arm injury that would take him out for the season.

How is Fatolo a better option than Maddux or Pavano Or Livan? He plain outright stunk last year and it would be a pure pick and pray selection. He pitched OK the second half, but still not tremendous.
You could make an argument for Odalis Perez, though I still think the other 3 are more valuable.
I am not inclined to pick another closer here unless it was a top-10 guy and a sure thing...and Guardado is neither. 4 of thr 5 other injury risks you listed happen to be the keepers I inherented with this team and there was not much choice in the matter. I see no reason to tempt fate on a closer.
