Neither do I. Seems like he is the OF equivalent of Morneau and everyone's latest "Greatest thing since sliced bread". I think he is a solid round 11-14 pick, but it is getting a little ridiculous when you see Mauer drafted as high as round 3, Morneau in the round 5-8 range and Rowand as high as round 7-8.
Here is what he did last year in 487 AB
94 R, 24 HR, 69 RBI, 17 SB, .310 BA
With a full year of AB he could be a mini-Abreu. I'd be a little wary cause of the lack of track record but the potential is there.

So Abreu is mini-Beltran and Rowand is mini-Abreu???

Who is mini-Rowand?
And how small are these guys in real life?
I don't think Abreu is the mini-Beltran. I think Rowand compares better to Abreu cause of his BA.
The Sox have always been high on this guy and last season, he showed a glimpse of why. Ozzie Guillen really likes the way Rowand plays the game. Part of Guillen's game is to steal some bags. If Rowand can keep his OBP at a respectable level this year, I think his numbers will be a little better than last year's, but I don't know if he is worth the risk drafting him as high as I've seen him going in the mocks this preseason.

Rowand had a PHENOMENAL season for sure... But to expect him to step it up is being overly optimistic. In his pro career, other than 04, he had one other season over .300, when he was 21. Speaking of his age, he will be 28 in 05.
He is a gritty player who goes all out. Therefore, he is more of an injury risk. My guess is that he probably will hit somewhere around 15-20 HR with 15-20 SB. The batting average should be somewhere around .275-.290 based on his career numbers. Should be a good hitter for a few years but I don't think he will get much better.
