I'll buy into this ;-D

At 1B there is helton, delgado, ortiz, thome, teixeira, plus a bunch of dark horses like lee, giambi, sexson, huff, and konerko. 1B is super deep. SS isn't at all. therefore tejada is a better pick than helton. you can get power numbers from your SS in round 1 and power numbers from your 1B in round 5.

Eh... I don't put that much stock in position scarcity. Unless we are talking about catchers, in most leagues, it doesn't really exist. I've seen studies and I will post them when I get a chance.

As for Nomar, no, he wasn't motivated to play last year. Why? Because he felt slighted by the Red Sox. He missed the window of opportunity to sign a long term contract prior to the stabilization of salaries. He wanted Derek Jeter money but didn't get it. So he waited too long. Then in the off season, he found out that he was traded to the White Sox while he was on his honeymoon. Then he had the weird injury which hampered him for most of the season. He didn't want to be in Boston and they granted his wish and traded him to the Cubbies in another league. He had more than enough distractions in 04 to put in a poor season.

I think I like Tejada better, but can you really go wrong either way?

My gut tells me tejada. I really don't think you go wrong either way.

How do you spell "biased?"

My gut tells me Tejada as well. But I am one of those fantasy players that emphasizes position scarcity while drafting. There are plenty of "power hitting" 1B's, but few "power hitting" SS.
