yeah, id like to know what people know about this guy also, i keep trying to find some quick info on him and when i do a search on the internet most of the stuff i find is from last year. the little i have found has been very positive and i also read he could take over for dotel at some point closing?? is this guy worth a roster spot in the late rounds or what?? im personally in the middle of a keeper draft right now and have 4 rounds left.
once he's ready, beane will trade dotel. Apparently, street is the real deal and will be ready at some point this year. IMO, he isnt draftable in a 1 year league, but be ready to hit the WW
His velocity is quesionable, but hois control makes hitters look silly. he still has much to learn, but will be used this year, and I predict will get the job either after the deadline or by Dotel bombing it (again).
Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!
I'm not convinced he's the closer of the future in Oakland. While it's likely Dotel moves on, remember the name Jairo Garcia. While Street has gotten most of the pub, Garcia lit up 3 levels - A, AA, and AAA - on his way to a brief cup of coffee in September. Although he didn't fare well in his brief stint with the A's, his minor league numbers from this year are staggering:
Total over all three levels:
4-2 record
19 saves
61.2 IP
10 ER
1.44 ERA
36 H allowed
1 HR allowed
102 K
30 BB
Reports say he's a Dotel clone with a lightening fastball and a dirty slider. I tend to think Garcia will actually be the eventual closer as Street doesn't have the velocity. Regardless though, he and Street will be a very good 1-2 punch at the end of games in Oakland's near future.
