I know this dude is quickly losing sleeper status, at least in the Cafe, but after the sizeable crowd of stud 3b are gone ...

David Wright could get 15-20 swipes in that offense - at a position where most of us expect, oh, none.

Endy Chavez could steal 30+ as long as he gets enough playing time in the Washington outfield.

Good call. Tike Redmon also...

Dang! He was the "sleeper" I was going to point out. I've seen projections for him near 30 without too many CSs.

Burke is a huge one,

But I also like Reyes, he could really surpise us all IF he can stay healthy.

I agree about Reyes. Even though it's hard to justify taking him at all early considering his injury risk, the upside is that he could steal 40 or more bases if healthy.

Unless Gathright can steal first, hes not going to be a legitimate basestealer in this league. He does not get on base enough, maybe in a few years he'll pan out, but I dont think he will this year.

stumpak wrote:Most people on this board probably have factored this in, but Roberts will be playing full time again. It is tough to see how he will not steal at least 40 if given 500+ ABs.

Also consider anyone in Toronto as likely to have an uptick. No one ran his guys less than Tosca, so even if the new guy steals only as much as the average MLB manager, guys like Wells could easily wind up with 15+ SBs. Also helping the Wells case is the fact that no one of consequence is hitting behind him.

agree with the first part, but not the second.

the problem with the jays SB situation was not tosca. gibbons is not likely to change anything regarding SBs in toronto. JP says no one runs, so no one will run. as long as JP is in charge expect toronto to be in the bottom half of the majors in SBs.
