Auction drafts, leagues

Postby savvy_stu » Mon Jan 31, 2005 3:57 pm

Has anyone ever been in a league that used an auction draft, and upon its conclusion, forgot about the salaries altogether?

I mean, use the auction for the draft. After the draft, treat the league like any other snake drafted league with regards to waivers and trades?

that would only really work for a redraft league - in a keeper - you have to keep salaries in mind - cause my mark teixeira at $6 is way more valuable than your jim thome at $26.

But sure it could work just fine if you're running the league for one year and next year starting over from scratch

...many leagues do this....they have a draft with a salary cap then during the season they have no cap....in a single season league there won't be huge salary dumping trades, but in a keeper league if you don't have a salary cap you run into salary dump trades in exchange for keepers and it has a tendancy to throw off the competetive balance of leagues if it gets out of control.
