Ah, I've been waiting for this thread.

I just found out in the last couple weeks that his mom hasn't even been recovered yet from her abductors. Tigers say he's expected at spring training, but is that a risk you want to take? And how will his head be if he does show up?

Now, if mom is returned and it's a happy ending for all, I'd make a late play for him and sit back for that mid-season trade to the Cubs .

Last rd or two he could be a good value pick.

Latest reports are promising - he will be reporting early for ST, and will be physically ready to pitch by openning day. His mothers kidnappers actually made a demand recently - which is good news in that she is still alive (hopefully). As for Uggey's mental state - I have no idea, but what I do know is what we have witnessed across most sports and that is if a player is going through traumatic experiences off the field, they often turn to their game for escape and can actually play above their norms during this time.

Uggey is not the close in Detroit - probably one of the best setup men in the game right now though - which doesnt help fantasy players much, but is exciting news if you are a Tiger fan.

One can also reasonably assume Urbina will be traded sometime this yr and when he does go he will more than likely be that teams designated closer.

if hes there in the last round or 2 i will grab him, i do think he will close somwhere this year, either percival injury or trade.
