Whats your take, but I feel we got lucky not to get Delgado for 4 years and that money. Mienks is a gold glover and I see him as an Olerud clone. With throwing the main problem with Matsui & Reyes Meinks could save 20 errors this year!
I'm telling you now put some money away for playoff tickets!!

I like the trade alot but you cant really compare his bat to Olerud. His good defense will help out the young infield and it didn't cost 52 million to get it. He doesnt strike out much at all and has a good OBP and is a good gaps hitter. I think he will fit in pretty well. He's been known as a good teamate regardless of all this new World Series baseball BS. I wouldnt mind aquiring a corner outfielder but I would be happy with the team that we have right now going into the season.

i think doug is a great team player and even better for the clubhouse, and he will help kaz and reyes on the throwing errors.... his OBP is pretty good, but i think the mets could have used some more power in case piazza goes down..... but overall for the money, it was a good signing for the mets....
