i went lowry and benson, thanks guys, i was pretty sure i was going to take a chance on lowry but benson??

Gotta go with Benson here. Shea will be great for him and he was dominant the last month of the season. Now he'll have Pedro hangin' around to bounce stuff off of. He's the best option here.

Over the past three years, Lilly has never had an era over 4.36, so I'm not sure what your projections are based on. By contrast, Benson had ERAs of 4.97, 4.50, and 4.31, and opponents batted .263 against him last year. I don't see how the numbers can say Benson is better than Lilly, and its all about the numbers.

That's exactly why he was lucky. Pitchers can't control their BAA (or not to any meaningful extent, with few exceptions) other than by getting K's or allowing HR's. He had a great deal of luck. His ERA, with the luck erased, was about 4.45 last year. You've been warned :-D
