Gotta go with Benson here. Shea will be great for him and he was dominant the last month of the season. Now he'll have Pedro hangin' around to bounce stuff off of. He's the best option here.

Lilly had a lot of luck last season. I think his ERA will be about 4.46 so I'd take Lowry and Benson over him. Lilly could post someting closer to 4 but I won't take my chances.

Over the past three years, Lilly has never had an era over 4.36, so I'm not sure what your projections are based on. Also, I don't know if you can say Lilly had "a lot of luck" when he held opponents to a .230 BA, which was [b]second-lowest in the league[/b]. By contrast, Benson had ERAs of 4.97, 4.50, and 4.31, and opponents batted .263 against him last year. I don't see how the numbers can say Benson is better than Lilly, and its all about the numbers.

That's exactly why he was lucky. Pitchers can't control their BAA (or not to any meaningful extent, with few exceptions) other than by getting K's or allowing HR's. He had a great deal of luck. His ERA, with the luck erased, was about 4.45 last year. You've been warned
