To Philly fans: What chance does Madson have of being a SP?

Lidle too; not that Lidle should supplant any of the above, but I would think Lidle would be in the mix ahead of Madson if an injury would befall...
so...
I doubt Madson this year.

Good pt, sorry about forgetting him but I still think Lidle is behind the guys I posted. It does however push Madsen alittle farther away from the rotation.

i'd have to say he's buried pretty deep. If he gets a shot it will be due to injury.

The Phils definitely re-signed Lidle to shore up a spot in the rotation. I think it's general consensus that to start the season, the rotation will be: Leiber, Padilla, Wolf, Lidle, Myers. Myers' mental struggles are well documented, and both Padilla and Wolf are coming off injuries, so there is a decent chance that a replacement starter will be needed somewhere along the line.

If I had to venture a guess, I would say that Floyd gets the nod over Madson. Keep in mind, part of the reason the Phils were confident in sending F Rodriguez to the Yanks for K Lofton was Madson's effectiveness in the bullpen. Floyd was up in Sept and looked damn good, so it's not like he's a 100% unknown at the big league level.

When Myers strikes the match to his annual self-immolation, Floyd will move into the rotation.
I'm seeing Madson as strictly long relief/spot start this year (with Wolf/Padilla on board, those spot starts remain a distinct possibility).

I'd say Madson has a better chance than I do, but that's not really saying much. Middle relief is more likely though.
