If he just DH's it eliminates some of the chance of him getting hurt and if he signs an incentive laden 1 yr deal he could put up great numbers in Texas and cash in next year. This plan seems like it would work for Boras because he would cash in next year?

Actually it isnt that bad. Its going to be a multi yr deal with injury clauses and heavily weighted on incentives. It gives the team that signed him a bit of built in insurance since the insurance premium the contract would demand from outside insurance would be insane. Its a win win for whatever team he goes to and Boras has a history of structuring contracts that way.
