Tremble in the wake of a career .272/.363/.404 hitter who was 20 runs below average offensively last season. I hear Minaya gave up Ian Bladergroen for Mientkiewicz, so in light of that I will say that I'm actually starting to like Epstein, what with turning dead weight into an interesting prospect.

While I can understand the apparent disdain for Minky from a defensive standpoint, a true Mets fan, if this deal is finalized, will end up loving him after he saves game after game with athletic play after athletic play. After having to torture myself watching Kevin Millar play 1b here in Boston last year, Minky was truly a player I wish we could have play every day. Ron Gardenhire once said about him "Doug is a 100 RBI guy. The only difference is that he saves 40 runs with his glove every year and drives in 60 with his bat."

Mets fans will be singing his praises come spring training.

And don't forget, it wasn't until the sox made the trade that brought Minky and Cabrera that their season turned around. He had a huge impact here in Boston.

The Sox season turned around because Nomar was shipped out - not because of Mintkayvich or Cabrera coming in.

That aside, Doug is a fantasy stiff.
