Delgado on the Marlins!

Done deal. Delgado to Marlins. So now that all the hoopla is over, how does that effect his fantasy value? Pro Player is a pitchers park, to be sure, but he'll be hitting in a helluva line-up:

Pierre
Castillo
Cabrera
Delgado
Lowell
Conine

That's a nice top 6. Anyway, I'm thinking 280-100-120-40 (BA/R/RBI/HR). What do you guys think?

As a Mets fan, it hurts, but I'm glad they didn't give him a 5th year.

He'll be solid but I think your #'s are a little high.

Maybe .275, 35 HRS, 105 RBI

Postby meat1968 » Tue Jan 25, 2005 11:02 pm

WHat happens with Encarnacion?

1B-Delgado
2B-Castillo
SS-Gonzo
3B-Lowell
C-LoDuca
LF-Conine/Cabrera
CF-Pierre
RF-Conine/Cabrera

Or do they ditch Conine? Fan fravorite in South FLA...

It looks like Conine will back up Delgado and Encarnacion will start in RF.

From Rotoworld along with their opinion on what he will do:

Carlos Delgado - 1B - FLA

Marlins agreed to terms with first baseman Carlos Delgado, who had been with the Blue Jays, on a four-year, $52 million contract with an option for 2009.
Moving to a pitcher's park in the National League should take a toll on Delgado's numbers, but he's still nearly certain to hit 30 homers and drive in 110 runs if he stays healthy. .280-35-125 can't be ruled out. $28 would be a fair price in NL-only leagues. Jan. 25 - 6:52 pm et

That's a great deal for Delgado although his numbers would have been better in Texas or Baltimore. That's just an insane amount of money for a 1B player of his age in a league that doesn't use the DH position in case of injury but who am I to judge.

I never like it when guys change leagues and aren't familiar with the pitching. Delgado should help out the rest of the Marlins and be a solid addition, but I am not putting my high draft picks on him.
