I would give Manny the edge if we are talking about 3 more years. THe reason: I think Abreu HAS TO stop running at some point. I like Abreu slightly better for 05 tho.

I'd want Manny over the next three years. Their value is pretty similar right now IMO but Abreu's value has a better chance of falling off over the next three years because it relies on his stolen bases.
ill say this first...for 3 years, id prob go manny...
BUT
if the keeper was longer (5+ years), id prob go abreu. no doubt manny is a better hitter, but abreu is a career .300+ hitter himself with just as many walks as k's. solid run totals should remain consistent in the phillies lineup. rbi totals solid as well.
the steals have to be considered IMO, abreu ALONE wont win u steals, but drafting him will give you options to go that direction if u wanted. abreu is also 2 years younger.
IMO this argument is a lesser version of the beltran vs. vlad debate except age is more of a factor.
they're both overrated. abreu had a career year and manny doesn't play full time (meaning his average doesn't help as much, etc.) i might take manny in the early 2nd, but i'd take ichiro before the lot of 'em.

I'd take Abreu. Better 5-tool player. He's a lock for 300-100-100-25-30 with considerable upside potential to post much better numbers, like he did last year. I keep hearing how he had a "career year" in 2004, but he's hit 25 or more HRs for 3 of the last five seasons and stole 25 or more bases for 5 of the last six. Yes, he had his best year last year, but it wasn't too far off his career numbers.
Manny will likely post better hitting numbers, but he doesn't steal. He's also two years older, with a terrible work ethic. If I had to choose who would decline first, I'd say Manny no question.
I am the Master. Don't question the Master. Just do what he says and be proud.
i like manny better. i expect abreu to return to around his 2003 stats(.300, 20 HR, 101 RBI, 99 runs, 22 Sbs) he may do a little better than that, but i think 2004 was a career year. manny gives you more production in 4/5 cats. I would never use a top 15 pick on abreu just to get 30-40 sbs. you can get them elsewhere for a much lower pick.
