i think the pirates are just trying to find a way to NOT use tike redman every day. they're just taking the less-than-direct approach.

which is a mistake IMO
he started off slow the first six weeks or so but then played quite well after that
granted he isn"t going to set the world on fire but he has good potential

His OBA will probably be better than everybody in the Pirates' lineup except for Jason Bay and Matt Lawton. I wouldn't complain about getting him if I was a Pirates fan.
