This is just a poor use of their resources. How would this signing help the team in any shape or form?

It doesnt! It is the pirates cycle. They get players that were studs in the minors. Fizzled in the Majors. The rebuild the player and then ship him to another team right before the trade deadline for prospects that they will never use

Its good to know that there are minor league teams out there willing to play with the big boys and give thier players a major league (minimum) salary.

WTG Pittsburg!

He'll probably be used as the infield grass trimmer. Word has it the cows have gone on strike ever since they lost arbitration last week. Good move for the Pirates.

But seriously, Grieve sucks.

He's actually not THAT bad. He has an 810 career OPS, and always has a good OBA. He's a lot better than some FA's that no doubt got more money than he did.
