I'm a Photoshop newbie and I'm trying to take a person out of a photo (delete the background) so that I can put it into a sig.
I've read up on it and I've been using quick mask mode and painting the stuff I don't want in red and that works but in some pics it is very hard to do well, especially those where the person's hair isn't easily defined or their clothes somewhat blend in with the background.
Is there any easier way to do this?
Also, in quick mask mode can you change the background color away from red? Because the person I'm trying to cut out is wearing red is it makes it hard.

Or you can do a quick cropping of the picture (not that close up) and then go in with a 1 pixel eraser, zoom way in baby, and erase around the edges to make it all neat and sexy.

Thats what I've been doing. It's not the easiest thing in the world to just erase everything else when there is a lot of wavy hair to deal with.
