In order to be considered for this bracket the bands had to...
A) Not have a major studio release before 1980 yet have had a release before 2000. That would exclude Aerosmith and Tom Petty & the HB, as well as Coldplay.
B) Have a commercial/critical hit in the 1990's
I will wait until the Classic Rock battle gets closer to concluding before starting this one. Until then if there is a band that you feel got sleighted and should be in this let me know. I'm not 100% sold on this bracket so there could be some adjustments.

DMB, Sublime are my favorites, but where's The Offspring? They're easily better than Korn and a lot of the other bands there. Perhaps you should have a couple spots that everyone else can have an input on.

No way, U2 and REM go back to the early 80s.
OOPS EDIT: I thought it had to be post 1990, not 1980.
U2 has an incredible longevity streak going on. I'd actually see them as the band to beat -- based on the criteria you outlined at the top of this topic.
Can't think of another group who's been around as long with as much success, first as a college radio band, then an alternative rock band (though alternative has meant so many different things over the decades) to MTV video darlings to mainstream arena act...
To now (sadly) corporate shills for iPod (yuck)
But I'm on record as saying U2 will be the group to beat.
