I noticed Walt didn't realize something bad was gonna happen with the hatch until Locke grabbed his arm. I think maybe Walt doesn't "see" thing unless he is in direct contact with the person it is going to happen to or with. Meaning he wouldn't have known he was gonna be kidnapped unless he was in contact with one of those Pirate dudes.

......hmmmm ?! ok .....has that been the case w/all of walt's "sightings" ? i guess he was holding the book of birds at his mother's when the same bird flew into the window

Well, it would fit in with the rest of the premise about "the Others." But initially I did think they were just perverted fishermen or something.
