All the Loaiza debate last year - can there ever be another?

Postby Sticky Spice » Sun Jan 09, 2005 8:10 am

Last preseason the Loaiza topics were fast & furious. That's what is so fun about the preseason is all the speculation. I just don't see anyone being in the same boat this year.

Any guesses on who might be the most debatable player this preseason?

You'd probably have to find an article on pitchers who have added a new pitch to his repertoire to stir some Loaiza-esque chat :-?

How about Beltre? He seems very debatable. Was last year a fluke or was he finally living up to his potential?

Nothing like those food suppliments, vitamins and flaxseed oil in a contract year...does wonders...just ask Javy Lopez.

Beltre and Sheets have both had some interesting threads this offseason. B-)

I was surprised how little debate there was over Jose Guillen last year. Here is a guy that was never really highly touted, had bounced around never having success, was ditched by Tampa Bay with a horrific slg% if I remember correctly, then all of a sudden he's good in 2003?! And it's not really questioned?

Anyway, it was for good reason because apparently he's good now :-D

Good call on Beltre being debatable. I don't know about anyone else, but I've been waiting for him to break out. It's just that it happened so suddenly and surprisingly that it makes me suspicious ;-)
