They lost out on Clement, now they are out of the running for Estes. I realize neither of these are aces, but they would certainly fit into the Jays rotation. Has Toronto somehow acquired a reputation as an undesirable place to play, or is it just money?
I guess part of it is that Toronto's likely not a contender, but also isn't part of it how they get taxed playing in Canada? Maybe you can answer that.

Sometimes to get a player, you have to overpay them more than any other team and it doesn't really seem like the Jays will do that yet. I don't really blame them though.

Is it really a bad thing if you are out of the running for Shawn Estes? Because he REALLY blows.
$$$$$. You get what you pay for unless you develop the player yourself. The fact that they are even looking at a stiff like Estes tells you what they are thinking.
And also due to the fact that the market value of FA pitchers is way, way, way too high right now. Pavano, Clement, Wright, Milton, Benson, etc, etc, etc.
It's probably better that your team didn't get Millwood, Benson, Wright, Lowe, Milton, or Estes. The price for free agent pitching is really high this year.
