baltimore, just because it seems like it ends up being some wild card team that swoops down and snatches the big guys at the last minute, a la the angels and vlad last year.

so if it's baltimore, you heard it here first. if it's not, forget this post ever existed please. :-b

I think he'll end up with the Mets. I predict that later today the Mets will come up with a final offer that Beltran can't refuse like they did with Pedro.

Hey Amazinz great point about the tax structure. I had no idea thats all it was. But I the astros will up the off enough for him to sign. Unless of course the Mets or somebody comes in in that 11th hour ( 11:00 PST ) and as the Godfather would say " Make him an offer he can't refuse" we will soon find out.

It will almost surely be the Astros IMO.

Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!

Looks like Houston isn't the answer afterall, as the midnight deadline has passed. Espn is reporting that Boras was on the phone with Houston and New York and a deal couldn't be reached. This is a huge loss for the Astros.

Not to mention those Beltran keeper league owners. A move to Shea...ouch!!! He iwll havethe protection of Cliff Floyd and Mike Piazza instead of Berkman and Bagwell Oh the pain.

Even a bigger loss, considering most have Clemens return pegged to the resigning of Beltran. If the Astros lose Beltran, Clemens, Miller, Kent and possibly Berkman then that team is going to look very weak heading into next season.
