This is part of an article on the Shawn Green/Arizona talks...

The Dodgers are holding off finalizing a contract with free agent pitcher Derek Lowe while trying to finish the Shawn Green trade, a lawyer involved in the Lowe talks told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity. But Green, as a player already under contract, is under no time pressure to reach an agreement.

If the Green talks fail, Arizona Diamondback's general partner Ken Kendrick said the Diamondbacks have other plans to find a right fielder. The team also expects to acquire a center fielder soon.

"I think that one is going to surprise people," Kendrick said without elaborating.

Arizona also wants another starting pitcher, possibly Shawn Estes, and help its bullpen. Kendrick said he hopes all of those personnel decisions will be made within a week.

Surprise People? Anytime the Snakes spend money shocks me, because I thought they were going broke....

So where did you get the whole Beltran thing from .... never did it even mention him or even hint that they were after Beltran. It ain't gonna happen. :-t

Exactly, the closest it got to Beltren was the article mentioned that they might go after a center fielder.

And the even bigger part to this sensational surprise is that they're bringing him back at 20 million for 4 seasons!
