Franco HAS to break down at some point, right?

Why not draft LaRoche very late, and plan on him being your back up first baseman. If Franco gives up, you have a steal.

Either way, LaRoche figures to hit, we just aren't sure how many at-bats he will get.

Does your league allow for daily line-up changes?

That is another thing to consider.

I don't know. At the rate Julio's going I'm afraid Adam might not get the sole starting job until he's 35 ;-)

Even with daily changes I wouldn't want to draft him because I'd have to check every day to see if Laroche is in the lineup. I'd have to be convinced he would at least get an opportunity to earn a permanent starting job during the season.

I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that Julio wants to play at least until he's 50......

Grab LaRoche for your bench in the late rounds. Maybe not this year, but next year he could be a solid go to guy if your starting 1B goes out, and the next few years he should do pretty well. If given the starting job, I'd project him for the next few years at:

.320, 22 HR's, 88 RBI

(Which is not bad at all) He hits a lot of doubles, and that should translate into more power in the next few years.
