Mark Grudzielanek (2B) STL
Grudzielanek agreed to a one-year deal with St. Louis, ESPNews reports.
He'll likely be the starter at second base, filling the void after the departure of Tony Womack

Much better than Alomar. He usually hits around 300 and if they are gonna use him in the 7th hole thats not bad at all for the Cards

He's actually been OK for the past couple seasons, and is definately an improvement over Womack. The only question is if he'll continue at this level. For a real life acquisition, I'd say this is pretty good. For fantasy? Yuck. No power and no speed.

I'd like to think the D-Rays will do something smart like letting Jorge Cantu start until he proves he can't. But why do I think Mr. Alomar is booking a ticket to Tampa?

if he bats down in the order maybe he will end up with a solid rbi total--possibly similar numbers to renteria but without the stolen bases. they might also bat him 2nd and move walker down to a rbi spot.
i would still like to see larkin brought in to back up ss/2b.

I'm not a big fan of his, but this better for the Cards than Alomar

well he signed for 1 mil and can earn up to 500k more in incentives. thats a pretty reasonable price in my opinion. its also cheap enough that the cards could afford to bring in someone else should the opportunity present itself. he is the best option to start at 2b right now but i am not sure we have heard the last about that situation.
